Backyard Helipad in South Blooming Grove

completed (built without required application)

A backyard helipad was built in South Blooming Grove without filing a required federal application with the FAA. The helipad is located on a property owned by an LLC where the South Blooming Grove Mayor George Kalaj lives. The Town of Monroe was not included in the approval process despite the helipad being close to its border. The FAA has limited enforcement abilities and there may be no penalty for the failure to file the required application. The Town of Monroe is time-barred from taking legal action unless new changes are made to the property.
