Description | Duke Energy has submitted a final license application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to extend the operation of the Bad Creek Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Station in South Carolina for an additional 50 years. The station, located in Oconee County, has been operational since 1991 and serves as a significant energy storage facility. Recent upgrades increased its capacity from 1,065MW to 1,680MW by adding 320MW of carbon-free energy. The original license expires in 2027, and Duke Energy expects a decision from FERC before then. |
