Information National Thermal Power Corporation [NTPC] has come up with Badam Coal Mining project of NTPC with a ticket size of 502 INR Crores. This project in Coal sub-sector involves The current status of the project is - and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project This is a Coal Mining Project with Peak rated capacity of 3 million Metric tonne with a mineable reserves of 90.5 MT. Badam coal block was earlier allocated to Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd [BSPGCL]. Ministry of Coal transferred this coal block to NTPC on 02.09.2019, after it acquired the Barauni thermal plant from the BSPGCL in December 2018. -Environment Clearance [EC] transferred to NTPC on 21.05.2020. -Feasibility Report has been approved by Project Sub-Committee of Board of NTPC on 09.07.2020. -Ground Water Clearance/NOC accorded by CGWB for Badam Coal Mining Project on 03.12.2021. -Stage-I FC transferred to NTPC from BSPGCL on 14.01.2020. Further, block covers an area of 3.27 sq. KM is bounded by latitude of 23o48 30 & 23o50 40N and longitude 85o17 10 and 85o18 25 E. It is located in the northeastern part of the North Karanpura Coalfield and within the administrative jurisdiction of Hazaribagh District. Badmahi River flowing roughly along the western part of the block. The distance from the block to Hazaribagh town is about 35 KM.
