Bahrain's Hidd Independent Water Production (IWP) Project

The project involves the development, financing, engineering, procurement, construction, ownership, operation, maintenance, and eventual transfer of the Hidd Independent Water Production (IWP) Project in Bahrain. The facility will be a large-scale seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant with a planned production capacity of approximately 60 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) (around 272,000 cubic metres per day) of potable water. The project will include seawater intake and outfall systems, desalination process units, water storage and pumping facilities, associated electrical and control systems, and connection to Bahrain's existing water transmission network. It is being procured by Bahrain's Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) under a PPP model, with the selected developer responsible for operating and maintaining the plant throughout the concession period before transferring it back to the authority.
