Latvia provides additional protection for working parents, however challenges of limited availability of childcare services and care services for elderly or other family members, insufficient involvement of fathers in the performance of childcare and household duties, under-developed and not enough used flexible working time opportunities remains.Objective of the project is to take measures to eliminate gender stereotypes and challenge stereotypical understanding of gender roles,particularly in terms of work and private life, by creating preconditions for improved access to reconciliation of work, family and private life for men and women, thereby encouraging the equal sharing of care and household responsibilities.Latvia provides additional protection for working parents, however challenges of limited availability of childcare services and care services for elderly or other family members, insufficient involvement of fathers in the performance of childcare and household duties, under-developed and not enough used flexible working time opportunities remains. Measures to eliminate gender stereotypes and challenge stereotypical understanding of gender roles, particularly in terms of work and private life, by creating preconditions for improved access to reconciliation of work, family and private life for men and women, thereby encouraging the equal sharing of care and household responsibilities will be taken.The project aims to achieve: informed choices regarding the combination of work and private life,changed stereotypes of gender roles; company behaviour is discussed with regard to reconciliation between work and private life;good practice examples are highlighted addressing WLB;policy recommendations for legislative and regulative adjustment are elaborated, changes are initiated addressing WLB obstacles in practice,increasing the take-up of family-related leave and flexible working arrangements by men.
