Description
Description | The project paves the way for the creation of a network of EU law experts among judges and prosecutors in the Baltic countries with training on key EU law topics, training methodology, and national examples of court coordinator networks. The consortium consists of all key judicial training institutions of the Baltic states: the Estonian Supreme Court, the Estonian Prosecutor General’s Office, the Latvian Judicial Training Centre, the Latvian Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Lithuanian National Court Administration and the Lithuanian General Prosecutor’s Office. The training combines face-to-face and online presentations, workshop activities and discussions in small groups. The training includes three 2.5-day transnational and cross-professional face-to-face seminars organised in Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius, which cover the following key topics: rule of law, preliminary reference procedure, scope and application of the Charter of Fundamental Rights. The training also includes five online half-day webinars focusing on digital skills and helping judges and prosecutors access the European digital legal databases and search engines, including Curia, HUDOC, Eur-Lex, EFRIS, the Criminal Detention Database, Case-law Database, Charterpedia, Charter e-guidance, EIO, e-evidence and ECRIS. The third part of the training is a 3.5-day study visit to Trier and Luxembourg, where the participants also visit the Court of Justice of the EU and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and, apart from exchange on EU law topics, attend workshops on judicial training methodology. The study visit also serves as an opportunity to meet court coordinators from 5 different Member States (Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Spain) and learn from their national experiences and good practices. The project aims to train 355 judges and prosecutors from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. |
