Description | The Baltic Power array, owned by refining giant Orlen and Canadian utility Northland Power, is a 1.2GW offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, 23 kilometres off the Polish coast near Choczewo and Łeba. It has delivered the first electricity ever generated from offshore wind to Poland’s national grid. The project includes 76 Vestas 15MW turbines, with 54 installed as of the article date. The wind farm is expected to generate around 4TWh of electricity annually, meeting about 3% of Poland’s current electricity demand, equivalent to the needs of more than 1.5 million households. |
