The project aims to connect Sweden and Finland via a new fibre-based route through the Baltic countries to Europe via Warsaw, based on terrestrial Fibre from Tallinn via Riga and Kaunas, and offers a new, unique and diverse path to connect with global cloud, digital services and interconnection hubs in Europe and globally. The route intermeshes the Nordic countries with European and Global connectivity gateways while creating additional resiliency by avoiding chokepoints in Denmark/Germany and better utilization of diverse Baltic sea cables. The key specific here is therefore adding network redundancy to a critical, geopolitically challenged region by avoiding the vulnerable Baltic Sea and the German/Danish passage. This project will consist of building and operating this new network route. It will cover procurement of fibre, colocation and equipment, overseeing the installation and commissioning it. This project includes 6 EU Member countries (Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland) and would improve each one of these countries access to improved connectivity. Each one of them will have more redundancy and therefore be more resilient against network outages of any form. The project would also further improve the overall objective of making EU a digital single market with fair market prices and robust competition. The project will not only further economic growth in the region, but also add resiliency to keep businesses, governments and public sectors maintain operations in the event of disruptions. • Adding redundancy to a critical, geopolitically challenged region • Intermeshing backbone connectivity to major European and global hubs with instant access to protected services via IP/MPLS backbone • Securing future capacity to high growth, but underserved part of the EU
