Description | The 96-MW Bangchak Petroluem Refinery Gas-Fired Power Plant is being developed by Bangchak Power Company. The project company was a consortium consisting of EGCO Joint Ventures & Development Co. (40%), a subsidiary of the 75% private Electricity Generating Company (EGCO), Bangchak Petroluem Plc. (30%), Sri U-Thong Group (15%), and Coastal Bangchak Power Co. (15%), a subsidiary of Coastal Corporation of the U.S. The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has agreed to purchase 90MW of the plant's 96MW output. The remaining steam energy generated by the project to be used by Bangchak Petroluem. The plant is being developed under the Small Power Producer Program (SPP) that encourages the sale of excess output to EGAT. The project is expected to become operational during 1998. Estimated project cost is $96.0 million ($1.0 million per 1-MW) |
