Description

The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) launched several tenders for building 55 solar plants across the country with a total capacity of more than 5,000 megawatts (MW). However, many investors held back from submitting proposals citing risks and uncertainty. The interim government cancelled 31 previously approved solar projects worth $6 billion in foreign investment. The government aims to increase renewable energy capacity from just above 1,000 MW to 17,470 MW by 2040, targeting 20% power from renewable sources by 2030 and 40% by 2040.
