Information RVNL - II has come up with Banspani-Jakhpura Doubling with a ticket size of 1826 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Completion Certificate/COD and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The Banspani - Jakhapura doubling Rail-Line [UP Line] augments the capacity of the existing Single line for transporting iron-ore from Joda-Banspani sector to the steel plants at Sukinda & Kalinga Nagar region and Paradeep Port for export purpose. Besides, after construction of Angul - Sukinda New Railway line, the line will feed iron ore to Jindal Steel plant located near Angul. Dispatch of finished products from the steel plants of Daitari and Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complexes to destinations in Mumbai and Delhi etc. area via TATA Nagar will also be shorter over this line as compared to the route via Kharagpur. Thus the doubling will contribute immensely for the Industrial production in the vital steel sector and also financially by generating considerable revenue for the country. This project will also contribute to the overall development of socially& economically backward and pre-dominantly tribal areas of Odisha by assisting directly and indirectly to the development of other infrastructures along with commissioning of the double Rail-Line.
