In March of 2000, the Sino-French Holdings (Hong Kong) Ltd. was awarded a 20-year concession for the Baoding Water Plant, located in Hebei Province. The plant had a water supply capability of 260,000 cubic meters per day. To implement the contract, Baoding Sino French Water Supply Company Ltd. was created as the project company which was owned by Sino-French (90%) and the state-owned Baoding Municipal Water Supply Company (10%). Sino-French Holdings, in turn, was a joint venture company owned 50% by Suez water subsidiary Ondeo and 50% by New World Infrastructure of Hong Kong. The total project cost was estimated at US$24.2 million. The plant commenced operation in June of 2000.
