Description
Description | The Bapaume Truck Stop Global Project aims to establish a secure and sustainable truck parking facility. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance efficiency and security along the North Sea-Mediterranean corridor, with a strong focus on infrastructure development, sustainability, digitalization, safety, and collaboration. The project will create a Platinum Level Safe and Secure Truck Parking Area (SSTPA) in compliance with Delegated Regulation 2022/1012. The parking facility will cover approximately 55,000 square meters with a concrete surface, providing space for 303 trucks near Bapaume, France, along the A1/E15 motorway, a critical route within the North Sea-Mediterranean corridor. The A1/E15 motorway, connecting Paris to Lille and Northern Europe, is France's busiest, with daily traffic of around 60,000 vehicles, including 14,000 heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). The Bapaume Truck Stop Project addresses the acute shortage of secure parking, thereby helping to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce accidents, and minimize cargo theft. By offering clean energy solutions such as electric charging, the project will contribute to European and French transport sustainability goals. Additionally, it will help lower carbon emissions and improve traffic flow on the A1/E15 by reducing unnecessary driving caused by the closure of other rest areas due to security concerns. The project will significantly improve truck drivers' working conditions, meeting the Platinum level of the EU-Parking Standard for security and service features. The service area will provide a variety of facilities that align with these high standards, including dedicated areas for staff overseeing the parking facilities. The project will also ensure connectivity with public and private transport authorities and operators, complying with Delegated Regulation 885/2013. Integration of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) will be implemented in accordance with the regulatory requirements outlined in Commission Delegated Regulation 885/2013/EU. By addressing the gap between the supply and demand for safe and secure truck parking in the Bapaume area, this project will enhance the overall experience for drivers through the combination of secure parking and additional on-site services. The initiative promises significant environmental, social, and economic benefits by reducing waste and congestion. Truck drivers will gain access to high-security, high-quality rest areas, thereby improving their overall working conditions. |
