Description

The Union Cabinet approved the construction of a 102 km long four-lane access-controlled highway in Uttar Pradesh connecting Barabanki to Bahraich. The highway will be built under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) to rectify geometric deficiencies and sharp curves on the existing NH 927, including 48.28 km of bypasses for high-speed transit away from congested areas. It will serve as a strategic cross-border trade link between India and Nepal via the Nepalganj border and improve access to the Rupaidiha Land Port. The project integrates with the PM GatiShakti framework, connecting economic, social, and logistics nodes. A Detailed Project Report is being prepared for extension from Bahraich to Rupaidiha, completing the route to the Nepal border. The project includes a six-lane mega bridge over the Ghaghra River and enhances connectivity to Shravasti Airport and Buddhist pilgrimage sites, reducing travel time from three to one hour.
