Description
Description | This project has followed a phased-approach: Phase 1: Beginning in 2009 completed in 2014. The key component’s with this work was the upgrading of the existing secondary clarifier and additional of a second aeration basin. Phase 2: This project included the upgrading of the existing UV disinfection systems & Head-works Screening Faculty. The UV Disinfection System has been completed and is operating as designed, and construction of the Head-works Facility is expected to begin late June 2019. Phase 3: This project is the construction/addition of another secondary clarifier. This project is close to completion. This application covers Phase 4: From the original 2007 design the key Phase 4 components are Solids Handling , Odor Control and Site/Civil works. In particular this is the replacement of 1970’s vintage sludge pumping systems, gravity thickening equipment, sludge blend tanks, internal/external piping, sludge dewatering, electrical & control systems - Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition (SCADA). This phase of the work will directly improve environmental performance by improving wastewater treatment, reducing pipe failures and water loss and ensuring that any impacts on adjacent water bodies is mitigated. In addition, the design of infrastructure renewal projects does factor in the impacts of climate change and thus also serve as adaptation projects. |
