Barking Eurohub Redevelopment

A £15 million redevelopment project to transform the 16-hectare Barking Eurohub site in east London into a modern international intermodal freight terminal. The project aims to restore the site as one of Britain's principal gateways for international rail freight, enabling handling of containers and crane-liftable trailers arriving directly from mainland Europe via the Channel Tunnel. The redevelopment includes removal of existing sidings to increase operational capacity, construction of new berthing sidings for continental freight services, and extension of terminal sidings to accommodate 700-metre-long freight trains, nearly doubling the current limit. The project supports the Government's ambitions to increase rail freight, reduce road haulage, lower carbon emissions, and strengthen trade with Europe.
