Barnhill Memorial School - Ventilation Upgrades

This project consist of the installation of a central ventilation system at Barnhill Memorial School. Originally constructed in 1951, the school is three stories and includes 26 classrooms and ancillary spaces which are naturally ventilated through exterior windows. The proposed project includes the installation of a central built up air handling unit in a new mechanical room built on an existing balcony in the gymnasium. New distribution ductwork will be routed to student learning spaces. Outdoor air will be preconditioned through an energy recovery unit. A new high efficiency natural gas fired boiler will provide heating hot water to the air handling unit as required. Total air volume delivered to the classrooms will encourage removal of airborne contaminants. The building automation system will be upgraded and expanded to incorporate the new air handling units and provide centralized control and scheduling, improving energy efficiency.
