BARRAGE D'EL HACHEF

The El Hachef dam project is part of Morocco's development plan to meet the drinking water needs of the cities of Tangier and Asilah and the secondary centers of the region. The implementation of the dam should allow the continuous operation of the El Hachef treatment plant, which is fed only 144 days a year by a catch in the water in the wadi Haricha. The volume of water that can be produced by the station should thus increase from 14.4 million m3 per year to 41.9 million m3 per year. The El-Hachef dam should allow, because of the storage in the reservoir lake, a continuous supply of the treatment station, to face the forecast demand of the Tangerois region, to avoid the rationing which prevails in summer period, and to provide drinking water to the population, the expanding manufacturing and tourism industry in this region continues. The project consists of seven (07) components, namely: (A) general facilities; (B) civil engineering of the dam; (C) hydro-mechanical equipment; (D) expropriations of land; (E) environmental protection work; (F) logistical support for the project unit; (G) execution studies and works supervision.
