Barranca Larga - Ventanilla Toll Road

In January 2009, the Mexican group Omega was awarded in a competitive bidding process the right to build and operate the 104 km of highways connecting the muncipalities of Barranca Larga-Ventanilla in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. Since the company was unable to raise financing for the project, federal agency Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SCT) allowed the Mexican company ICA to undertake the project by becoming a shareholder of Desarrolladora de Infraestructura Puerto Escondido, S.A. de C.V. in April 2012, the project company was created to undertake the project. The new 30-year concession contract was signed in April 2012. The sponsors committed to invest US$ 405 million in the construction works. Funding for the project was arranged with the state-owned bank Banobras and the National Infrastructure Fund. As of December 2013, construction works were underway (25% of the works were completed), and the toll road was expected to be operational by the third quarter of 2014.
