Description | The Departamento Tecnico Administrativo del Medio Ambiente de Barranquilla (DAMAB - Barranquilla's Environmental Agency) carried out a public tender in 2005 for a sewerage treatment plant project in Barranquilla. On December 20, 2005 DAMAB awarded the Greenfield project to a consortium formed by Obresca, Consultores del Desarrollo S.A. (Condesa) and Hidrotec. The contract for the water treatment plant was awarded to the consortium for a total of US$3.37 million (7,700 million pesos), after the bidding process began in October. The project consists of designing, constructing, operating and maintaining a plant capable of treating at least 350 liters per second. The construction phase of the project must be completed within 12 months of the project being awarded.
