Description | The Barrow Green Hydrogen Project is a 30MW renewable hydrogen production facility in Cumbria, UK. It is owned and delivered by Green Hydrogen Energy Company (GHECO), a joint venture between Schroders Greencoat and Carlton Power. The project aims to supply green hydrogen to Kimberly-Clark's manufacturing plant in Barrow-in-Furness, reducing natural gas consumption by up to 50% and cutting CO2 emissions by 18,300 tonnes annually. The project has reached Final Investment Decision (FID) and is set to enter commercial operation in 2028. It includes agreements with SEFE for renewable electricity supply, Plug Power for electrolyzers, and EDF subsidiary Dalkia Engineering for construction and commissioning. |
