The Barry R. Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema is the first public graduate school of cinema for New York City, located on a working film lot at Steiner Studios. The school aims to provide affordable access to career opportunities in cinema and to supply diverse talent to the industry. The project is a public-private partnership involving Brooklyn College alumni, the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, Steiner Studios, the New York City Council, the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office, and CUNY. Construction of the facility is well underway, with the school scheduled to open in fall 2015.
