The joint-stock company "Bashinformsvyaz" was set up in 1992 on the basis of a state-owned communications enterprise founded in 1930. Its more than 70 branches were in all towns and administrative centres of the Republic of Bashkortostan and provided fixed line telephony, computer and fax communications, as well as TV and radio broadcasting. BASHINFORMSVYAZ provided 90 per cent of the total volume of communications, servicing 784533 subscribers at the end of 2000. A trunk network was created on the basis of cable. JSC "Bashinformsvyaz" was a co-founder of the commercial bank "Informsvyaz" opened in 1990. It did not belong to the Sviazinvest Holding. As of 2006, 46.08% of shares were state owned, of which 28.24 federally owned, and 17.84 belonged to the republic. Bashinformsvyaz owned 40.83% of Cellular Communications of Bashkortostan (CCB)(project 1319). In 2002 capex amounted to 299.956 mln.rubles. The Company used depreciation charges (204.3 mil.rubles) and a part of retained profit (45.2 mln.rubles) as its financial resources. Rostelecom acquired a 39.9% of the ordinary shares in OJSC Bashinformsvyaz from Bashtelekominvest LLC for in June 2011. http://www.bashtel.ru/company.php Subscriber data for 2009 was not publicly available.
