Description

Description

The aim of the FC measure is to help improve the health of women and children through better nutrition. The aim of the emergency aid measure is to reduce the worst effects of the current crisis and cushion the difficult transformation process. The FC measure is being implemented by the World Food Programme (WFP). Specifically, parts of the Emergency Food and Nutrition Support to food insecure and conflict-affected People EMOP 200451 program are being financed. The WFP program includes the following components: (1) food aid for malnourished children (6-59 months), pregnant and breastfeeding women; (2) emergency food security system in 14 governorates. The EMOP mentioned above has been supporting up to 5 million vulnerable people across Yemen since the beginning of 2013 to mid-2014. As part of the school program for girls, Food Assistance to Promote Girls Education (DEV 200432), schoolgirls and their families receive food rations. Flour and oil are distributed retrospectively on the condition that the girls have regularly attended school. This support improves the health situation of the family and reduces the school dropout rate among girls. The FC contribution of EUR 25 million for Phase I is intended to support EMOP with up to around EUR 18 million. Around EUR 7 million is earmarked for the school program for girls.
