Description
Description | The project supports the implementation of the African Union's reform agenda (Agenda 2063). It aims to improve the management capacities of the Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS) department. The department's mandate extends to supporting the member states of the AU, the regional economic communities and regional mechanisms in preventing, resolving and managing conflicts and crises. In line with the principles of the founding act, the department is to promote peace and stability, good governance, democracy and human rights as a basis for inclusion, security and the development of the continent and its citizens. The German contribution aims to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of planning and implementation of tasks in the area of consolidating peace and security. Support is provided through basket financing (Joint Financing Agreement, JFA). The joint approach is supported politically and financially by Denmark, Ireland, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. By supporting and participating in the JFA, the FC project contributes to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the activities of the Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS) department. In addition, the project aims to systematize donor contributions in line with the Paris Declaration, counteract their fragmentation and reduce the associated procedural inefficiencies. |
