The project involves the development of the second phase of the Basra Gate Terminal at the Port of Umm Qasr in Iraq. Port operator International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) has signed an expansion agreement with General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI). The phase two expansion will deliver 400 meters of new quay with a draft of 14 meters, alongside a new 30-hectare yard area and a 15-hectare secure parking area.Two new berths will raise annual BGT container handling capacity by 600,000 TEU to a total of 1.200,000 TEU. The total cost of the second phase was $120 million.
