Bastrop River Stabilization Project

The city of Bastrop is planning an approximately $2.6 million project to stabilize the east bank of the Colorado River between Fisherman's Park and Hwy. 71. The project aims to reduce the long-term risk of future disasters such as floods by adding rock vanes to encourage sediment deposition and natural bank stabilization, along with riparian plantings to restore natural bank protection with roots and vegetation. The project would enhance approximately 1,200 feet of river bank and includes engineering, environmental, and administration services.
