Description

Description

This project is for the design, purchase, and installation of approximately 80 in-depot charging points and related infrastructure at three locations: Victoria (62); Whistler (16); and Nelson (2). In support of the low carbon fleet replacement strategy and reducing operational carbon emissions, this infrastructure project is required to support the deployment of Heavy Duty (HD) Battery Electric Buses (BEBs), reducing the reliance on diesel fueled vehicles and supporting CleanBC targets for reducing GHG emissions. For larger installations servicing Victoria and Whistler transit systems, all electrical equipment will be in self-contained central charging units that can support up to 20 vehicles simultaneously, mounted on concrete pads in existing depot locations, and not permanently installed. Charging dispensers will be installed at parking spaces serviced by underground conduits or overhead gantry structures. New utility connections are expected to be required to support the new charging infrastructure. For distributed small installations of up to two charging points (Nelson), charging equipment will be installed using available on site power with minimal site disturbance. Chargers will be self-contained charging units with corded dispensers or small modular charging units with 2-4 dispenser cords. The project scope will support the acquisition of approximately 66 heavy duty BEBs.
