The BESS projects are expected to come up within 12-18 months, providing short duration storage and ancillary services. As of February 2026, 0.8 GWh of BESS capacity is operational, with about 6 GWh expected to be operational by December 2026. The total investment requirement for the projected 236.22 GWh BESS capacity by FY 2031-32 is estimated at around ₹2.65 lakh crore. |
