Battery Park City Resiliency Project

Battery Park City in New York City is undergoing an ambitious $2 billion resiliency program to protect the neighborhood from rising sea levels, storm surges, and climate change impacts. The project includes site readiness work, relocation of underground utilities, construction of reinforced infrastructure, nearly a mile and a half of flood walls disguised as elevation changes, redesign of plazas and parks, and installation of a passive tide gate system and retractable flood wall. The project aims to protect valuable property including the World Trade Center site and is projected to be completed by 2030.
