Bay Head Stone Jetty Construction Project

Construction on two rock groins began to replace the wooden ones damaged since the 1960s. The groins are designed to trap sand flowing south to north to create a more stable beach and stop beach erosion. The project is privately funded and costs nearly $1 million, covering rocks, transportation, planning, and construction. Work involves digging trenches in the tidal zone and placing giant boulders, expected to take about a month to complete.
