Description

Description

The former site of the Kings Club Casino in Brimley is being redeveloped into a mixed-use project including nine second-floor apartments and space for four retail/commercial businesses on the ground floor. The development is half residential and half commercial, aiming to create opportunities for tribal members to open smaller businesses serving the community. The project honors the tradition and history of the Kings Club Casino, which was the first tribally owned casino in the U.S. to offer slot machines and blackjack. The development broke ground in mid-June 2026 and is expected to be completed by summer 2027, with residential units opening last. The Bay Mills Indian Community funded the project through federal grants and tribal funds. The final phase includes landscaping and paving, dependent on weather conditions, and the exterior design connects to Lake Superior.
