Description | The BC-Wind offshore wind project is a 390 MW wind power development located in the Baltic Sea, roughly 23 kilometres north of Poland’s coastline in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). It consists of 26 Siemens Gamesa 14 MW wind turbines and aims to power 500,000 Polish homes. The project is a joint venture called Ocean Winds, equally owned by EDP Renewables and ENGIE, and has secured EUR 2 billion in project finance, including significant backing from the European Investment Bank (EIB). Construction is set to begin in 2026, with first energy expected to be delivered to the grid in 2028. The project will be the first in Poland to be delivered entirely from Polish Ports and includes the construction of an onshore substation and export cable route by Polish engineering company P&Q. |
