The main objective of the BE-JUDO-IN project is to contribute to a better understanding of inclusion in sport, and to promote the implementation of inclusive approaches in regular sporting environments, in this case the local judo clubs. The specific objectives of the project are 1) to exchange best practices on different approaches of inclusive judo between the project partners, 2) to train judo coaches from participating countries in inclusive judo approaches, 3) to introduce inclusive judo approaches in as many judo clubs, 4) to define inclusion in sport, based on a participant survey, and 5) to promote the inclusive judo approach across the EU. The project brings together six partner organisations from Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia - the national judo federation and an inclusive judo club from each country. The project will implement three worksops on different topics related to inclusion in sport and specifically in judo, and produce a peer-reviewed article on the topic. Project deliverables will also include three instructional videos and an inclusive judo guidebook. Project results will be presented and promoted nationwide in all three participating countries, as well as internationally. The project will strengthen the methodology of judo for people with disabilities, and will have strong impact on the different target groups: 1) judo coaches will benefit from expanding coaching knowledge and competencies to work with PWDs, 2) athletes will adopt new exercises, techniques and ways of training through practical lectures, 3) national judo federations will gain a quality knowledge base as well as a critical mass of trained coaches to be able to organise a sustainable support for implementation of inclusive judo approaches into most member judo clubs, 4) the wider community will be acquainted with the inclusive concept of sport in general and the importance of including PWDs in sport.
