A two-story beachfront stilt house along the Outer Banks in Buxton, North Carolina collapsed into the ocean surf. The house was unoccupied at the time of collapse. The homeowner has hired a contractor to remove the remaining house structure and debris. Seashore staff are cleaning up the beach near the collapse site. The collapse is part of a series of 12 houses claimed by the Atlantic Ocean in the past five years in the area.
