Description

Description

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is looking to reduce its carbon footprint at the Beaubassin Research facility in Aulac, NB, by undertaking a number of energy upgrades. The original building was built in 1862 and was partially renovated in 2008 but the building needs a number of energy upgrades. These include insulation throughout, attic, basement and exterior walls. The building has an oil furnace that we plan to replace with an air-to-air heat pump system. There are number of windows that are single gazed and need to be replaced with newer energy efficient windows. In a further effort to reduce our carbon footprint we also plan to install a ground mounted solar energy system. The facility is operated on a yearly basis by DUC and is used by the broader community including universities, Indigenous communities, conservation NGOs. The facility is used regularly by four Mi’kmaq communities of Fort Folly, Bouctouche, Indian Island and Elsipogtog for cultural and other special events.
