"With ""Becoming Vietnam"", LOOKSfilm in coproduction with Morgana Studio (Italy) nd LOOM (Poland) create a high-end documentary series that looks at the conflicts that took place in Vietnam between 1945 and 1975 from a new perspective: that of the Vietnamese people. Through personal testimonies, graphic animations and an unprecedented access to Vietnamese archives, over 4 episodes the series describes the journey of a nation, whose path to independence was marked by three decades of wars against foreign powers as well as among its own people. Production companies from 4 different European countries with outstanding experience in serial storytelling, animation and a deep knowledge of Vietnam join forces in this project, putting together a creative team that is talented, diverse, inclusive and representative of the different segments of the Vietnamese society. Shot in Vietnam and along the trail of the Vietnamese diaspora in Europe and North America, this series looks at the Vietnamese history from a new angle and offers keys to understand issues that are crucial for our present: from the legacy of colonialism to the inclusion of refugees, from the conflict between West and East to the devastating impact of war on the lives of individuals and on the environment. Available on the global market on occasion of the 50th anniversary since the end of the war in Vietnam, this program will be broadcast on tv, accessible via the online platforms of our partners and promoted on social networks, reaching millions of viewers internationally. With an outreach campaign that will include Vietnamese communities across the globe, we provide with this program also a common space for discussion and understanding to a population that has not yet achieved reconciliation after the traumas of the war."
