Beijing Quarry Rehabilitation and Park Development

The project involves the rehabilitation of a former quarry on the northern outskirts of Beijing, which operated from 1990 to 2015 supplying raw materials for the city's growth. After nearly a decade of planning and design, the quarry has been transformed into a 265-acre park featuring landscape repair, land art, a seasonal lake, amphitheater, walking paths, and ecological restoration. The design emphasizes the quarry's industrial past by preserving its crater-like pits, integrating abandoned machinery, and using site materials for landscaping. The project also includes turning the quarry's factory and administrative buildings into a national science research campus.
