Description
Description | _x000C_The project is an investment in the United Family Hospitals’ (UFH) Beijing and Shanghai facilities, including: - completion of a 50-bed hospital in Shanghai; - building and putting into operation a new outpatient clinic in downtown Beijing; - new medical equipment purchases and an upgrade of existing medical equipment and facilities; - an upgrade of its management information system and drug management system; and - establishment of a medical training program targeted at hospital administrators and nurses. The total project cost is estimated at $19.5 million. The proposed IFC loan is for up to $8 million. Approximately $12.7 million of the project financing has already been contributed (including $4.6 million to be refinanced by IFC). The project will expand access to international standard medical services in Beijing and Shanghai. United Family Hospitals is a leading for-profit private healthcare network in China. Its operations in Beijing include: - Beijing United Family Hospital (BJU), a well-established 50 bed general hospital; and - a freestanding outpatient clinic located in the Shunyi district. In Shanghai, UFH opened a 50 bed general hospital, Shanghai United Family Hospital (SHU), in late 2004. Both of UFH’s general hospitals are focused on out-patient, diagnostic, maternity, and pediatric care. |
