Information Central Railway [CR] - II has come up with Belapur-Seawood-Uran Electrified Double Line with a ticket size of 2980.41 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Completion Certificate/COD and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The proposed Nerul / Belapur - Uran railway line will help to accelerate the growth of Navi Mumbai by providing direct access between Uran town, Jawaharlal Nehru Port, and the newly developed areas of Mumbai. The Railway line will cater to the passenger traffic demands generated by Jawaharlal Nehru Port, port based industries, ONGC, Defence establishment at Uran and other residential, industrial, and warehousing complexes in Uran taluka. The work on the project began in July 1997. However, it was stalled due to various reasons. The project was revived after the tripartite agreement between Railways, City and Industrial Development Corporation [CIDCO] and Government of Maharashtra [29.07.2011] in which cost sharing between Railway and CIDCO in ratio of 1-2. Entire land cost to be borne by CIDCO. Land will be acquired by CIDCO and made available to Railways free of cost on long term lease on nominal lease fee. The project is to be completed in two phases Nerul/Belapur to Kharkopar and Kharkopar to Uran. The first phase was commissioned in November 2018. The anticipated date of completion of the project is 12 months after possession of 4.067 Hectares of forest land. Phase - II from Kharkopar excluding to Uran 14.60 Km earthwork, bridge work completed, P-Way linking /TRR / FOB's / Subways, COPs, Station Buildings, and circulating areas of all stations completed except Gavhan Station. Gavhan Station - will be opened later as the work is in progress. CRS .inspection was held on 04.03.2023 and 11.03.2023 , CRS sanction for commissioning received on 14.03.2023. Train operation will be started soon.
