Description | Belen Electric Generation Co. Inc., a project company wholly owned by Guris Holding, implemented the 30MW Belen Wind Power Project, near Belen in Hatay province. The project was developed on a greenfield, build own and operate (BOO) basis, and was awarded through a license scheme. Electricity generated by the wind farm was to be delivered to the Turkish national grid. The total project cost was estimated at EUR51 million (US$70.89 million). Financial closure was reached in February 2009, when Belen Electric Generation Co. Inc. signed a EUR27 million (US$37.53 million) loan agreement with Commerzbank Aktiengesellschaft and the Danish Export Credit Agency (EKF). The total repayment period of the credit including grace period was 12.5 years. In June 2012, it was reported Guris was planning to expand the wind farm with an additional 12 MW to 36MW. |
