Bellona Europa

ongoing

Bellona is dedicated to addressing environmental challenges constructively and progressively, believing that industry can adapt with the right long-term framework. Acting as a bridge between industry, researchers, and policymakers, Bellona works closely with businesses and academia to tackle environmental issues and support policies that promote eco-friendly technologies. Accredited by major global organizations like the UNEP Governing Council, UNFCCC, and IMO, Bellona collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders, including civil society, academia, unions, governments, institutions, and industries. Founded in 1986 in Norway, Bellona has evolved into a technology- and solution-oriented organization with offices in Oslo, Brussels, Berlin, and Vilnius, employing over 70 experts. Each office operates as a separate legal entity, but collaborates under an International Management Team to align strategies and programs. In Oslo, Bellona focuses on addressing environmental risks, public education, and policy development, emphasizing practical solutions that minimize the impact on human activities. The Berlin office is dedicated to industrial climate protection, striving for zero emissions through renewable energy, hydrogen technologies, and CO2 storage. The Vilnius-based Bellona Environmental Transparency Centre monitors Russia’s environmental impact, particularly in nuclear safety and climate change, providing vital data to decision-makers. Bellona Europa in Brussels plays a key role providing input to EU policy, in areas such as CO2 Capture and Storage and industrial decarbonisation, supporting climate-friendly policies across the EU. By working across these regions, Bellona ensures its efforts are tailored to the specific political and social contexts, fostering sustainable solutions that benefit both the environment and industry.
