Description

The Bengaluru-Hyderabad bullet train project is a high-speed rail corridor aiming to reduce travel time between Bengaluru and Hyderabad to approximately two hours. The corridor will span around 626 km across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, with about 101 km in Karnataka. It will have around 12 stations, including three in Karnataka at Alipura, Devanahalli, and Kodihalli. The train is planned with a design speed of 350 kmph and an operational speed of around 320 kmph, mostly running on elevated tracks along a new alignment separate from existing railway lines. Detailed Project Reports are being prepared following surveys by RITES, with land acquisition and route alignment as key focus areas. The DPR is expected to be completed between September 2026 and March 2027. The Telangana government has proposed the corridor to originate from Shamshabad in Hyderabad. The project has received in-principle approval from the Karnataka Cabinet and is moving towards execution with land acquisition discussions underway.
