Description

Bengaluru's longest double-decker planned under Namma Metro Phase 3 will feature entry/exit ramps at five locations and loops at nine places to serve local traffic needs. The project includes a 37.121-km double-deck viaduct across two corridors totaling 44.65 km. The first corridor from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura includes a 28.486-km double-decker from Delmia Circle to Hebbal, making it the city's longest flyover. The second corridor from Hosahalli to Kadabagere along Magadi Road includes an 8.635-km double-decker from KHB Colony to Kadabagere. The metro line will run on the lower deck with the metro line above, similar to the Ragigudda-Silk Board Junction double-decker. The project is fully funded by Karnataka with contributions from the state government, Greater Bengaluru Authority, and loans. The double-decker is expected to be completed by 2030, with Phase 3's tentative deadline in May 2031. BMRCL has prepared a Detailed Design Consultancy report and plans to call tenders soon. A single contractor will build both the metro and the flyover. Phase 3 will have six interchange stations.
