Description

Description

The Karnataka Cabinet approved a Rs 9,700-crore double-decker viaduct project as part of Namma Metro's Phase 3. The project includes elevated metro lines and flyovers along two corridors: a 28.486-km flyover from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura covering the western stretch of the Outer Ring Road, and an 8.635-km flyover from Hosahalli to Kadabagere along Magadi Road. The metro line will be stacked above the flyover, creating a 37.121-km double-deck viaduct. The project cost covers civil works, land acquisition, design, and other expenses. The Union government will fund only the metro line, while the flyover funding will be shared between the state government (50%), urban local bodies (10%), and loans (40%). Civil tenders are expected to be floated in September 2025, with construction starting in early 2026. The project deadline has been pushed to May 2031, six months later than the original target.
