Benin drinking water supply systems lease

The leasing contract covers the production and distribution of drinking water in Benin rural areas in the departments of Alibori, Borgou, Collines, Zou, Couffo, Mono, Ouémé and Plateau. The project includes 421 village water supply systems (VWS) and 22 multi-village drinking water supply systems (MVDS), which will serve 6.7 million people with the objective to supply 100% of the rural population with drinking water by 2030. Following an international call for tenders launched in May 2019, the National Agency for Drinking Water Supply in Rural Areas (ANAEPMR) awarded the contract to a consortium comprising Eranove, Vergnet Hydro and Uduma. The sponsors created a private Beninese leasing company called "Omilayé", which will operate the water supply systems for the next 10 years as soon as the leased service is taken over.
