Description

Description

In a two-year project, BFM will keep promoting the knowledge of film culture, focusing on the cultural and geographical diversity of both recent European audiovisual works and Europe’s film heritage. BFM42 and BFM43 will once again be an opportunity for a journey through contemporary and independent cinema, highlighting the latest trends and emerging fiction, documentary and animation film directors. In addition, through the retrospective sections, the Festival will also rediscover the masterpieces and great authors from the history of cinema. There will be films from all over the world, a substantial programme of non-national European works, international guests and meetings with talents, special events and innovative actions. BFM will maintain its pledge on supporting the circulation of films, both through yearlong activities and decentralised initiatives as well as by strengthening the film industry agenda, connecting pros with national and international buyers and programmers, and promoting commercial or alternative distribution. Film literacy initiatives, with specific attention to young people and schools, through special sub-programmes, meetings, workshops and seminars, will be the means for young people to develop cultural sensitivity in the audiovisual field. Audiences will have access to a diversified programme accompanied by a lively collateral offer, ranging from visual arts, literature, music, comics etc. We expect that our constant efforts, as well as the alternative use of the latest digital technologies will allow us to reach new moviegoers. To strengthen our goals and refresh our ambitions, BFM will also consolidate and expand collaborations with other festivals and public or private film institutions with whom projects and expertise will be shared. Enhancing our international network will not only increase resource efficiency but also strengthen the impact of the Festival itself on a wider geographical scale.
