Berlinale Pro* is a cluster of activities comprising innovative elements of one of the major film markets worldwide: the European Film Market; a unique and globally established project and talent development initiative: Berlinale Talents; a highly successful co-production market: the Berlinale Co-Production Market, and a value-oriented film fund providing co-production support: the World Cinema Fund. Jointly, they nurture creative work(ers) from discovery, to mentorship, content development, crew and community building, financing, developing and refining (co-) production strategies, connecting with viable partners, packaging, strengthening market access, also by exploring new technologies as well as promotion, presentation and public debate. A changing industry, gender equality, diversity and inclusion and ecological and social sustainability are at the center of Berlinale Pro*s efforts. Participants include altogether annually ca. 12,000 representatives of the international audiovisual industry in diverse fields of work and from diverse backgrounds, with a strong focus on producers, and numerous offers also for financiers/ buyers and distributors, sales agents and creatives. Approx. 1,000 audiovisual projects per year benefit from the overall Berlinale Pro* services in terms of development support, market access and actual financing. The expected outcome of our activities are strong international financing and co-production connections between our participants, sustainable productions, reflected filmmakers, fair(er) work conditions and new services helping to bring films to audiences in a more targeted way, and thus a strengthened European and international audiovisual landscape with resilient companies and individuals.
