Description | OBJECTIVES • Improving judicial cooperation in the application of the European Investigation Order (EIO), between Belgium (BE), Germany (DE) and the Netherlands (NL) • Strengthening mutual confidence, trust, recognition and the network of legal practitioners • Avoiding obstacles, miscommunication and practical issues in the application of the EIO between BE, DE and NL • Enlarging the participants’ knowledge of the legal systems of BE, DE and NL • Exchanging best practices and experiences • Stimulating the use of the correct legal terminology within judicial cooperation • Improving practitioners’ knowledge of the languages of BE, DE and NL ACTIVITIES • Organization of 3 two-day tri-national trainings • Drafting a glossary of the Dutch/French/German/English technical terms used under the EIO TYPE AND NUMBER OF PERSONS BENEFITING FROM THE PROJECT Direct • 180 legal practitioners: members of the PPO’s and investigative judges in BE, DE and NL and representatives of EJN and Eurojust Indirect • Members of the PPO’s of other EU countries dealing with BE, DE and NL in the field of EIO • Lawyers and the rights of the suspects, gaining profit from the better knowledge of the legal practitioners, when exercising their right to ask for investigative measures according to the EIO regulation EXPECTED RESULTS • A better understanding/knowledge of the EIO and the national implementation in BE, DE and NL • A more effective, efficient and coherent application of the EIO • Strengthening mutual confidence, trust, recognition and the network of legal practitioners • Practitioners will be able to fill in the certificate in accordance with the national implementation law of the executing state in order to ensure a swift and adequate execution • Knowledge of legal terminology and legal systems of BE, DE and NL • Better linguistic skills TYPE AND NUMBER OF OUTPUTS • 3 two-day tri-national trainings • A glossary of the Dutch/French/German/English technical terms used under the EIO |
