Objectives: ERA (Coordinator) together with EJTN (Partner) and 17 national training institutes (supporting organisations) aim to: - address the need for training on EU law for court staff by creating a standardised training package and by organising a series of legal and linguistic training events focusing on issues of European criminal justice relevant for their work; - provide a platform for exchange of best practices, information and knowledge and to create close contacts among court staff from different EU Member States. Activities: -Development of training materials: for the provision of the legal training, basic case studies on the EU legal instruments chosen will be developed by 2 external experts. For the language training, a manual on legal terminology in English will be drafted by 1 linguistic expert. -1 two-day coordinating meeting to be held online with national experts -9 legal seminars of 1.5-days each organised by the supporting organisations in their national language -5 three-day legal English events organised by ERA with the support of the partnership. -1 pan-European conference in English organised by ERA with the support of the partnership. Type and number of persons benefiting from the project: 475 court staff, 2 EU, 1 linguistic and 10 national experts Expected results: -to enhance knowledge and skills of court staff by creating tailor-made materials and by offering practical training; -to raise awareness and increase the confidence of 475 court staff in using the EU criminal law instruments; -to improve the legal English communication skills among court staff; -to enable networking opportunities and create a platform for exchange of knowledge; -to ensure a widespread future use of the training materials. Type and number of deliverables to be produced: 9 legal and 5 language training events, 1 pan-European conference, 475 court staff, 1 training package on European criminal in (partly) 10 EU languages, 1 linguistic manual, 1 project web page
